I asked Jesus into my heart when I was a young child, but it wasn’t until I 18 that He became my Lord. It is the richest most treasured moment of my life. I was standing in a prayer circle when I realized with a depth and certainty that Jesus loved me personally, me, even while knowing me exactly as I truly was. That realization was overwhelming because I knew how undeserving of such a love I truly was. It was that evening when Jesus became not only Savor, but my Lord. It has been a journey since then, a wonderful ongoing journey where He has taken this imperfect clay and has and is working out the flaws to make His finished product – I can’t wait for that! I’ve been sampling His workmanship for a lifetime, and His work is awesome!
I’ve served in children’s ministry most of my life. It is an honor to teach children the simple and yet ultimate truth of how God knows them exactly as they are and yet He loves them. I like to think that I have learned much through my years working with children. It has certainly been a blast!
A couple of years ago God started opening my heart to other areas of ministry. I found myself working with adults more and more, and loving it. He began showing me ways that He had enabled me to be used in other areas; I’m the clay, He is the Potter.
I have three life verses, verse that God has implanted in my life and I have clung to over and over:
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and sound judgment.”
2 Corinthians 3:5 “Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.”
Hebrews 13:20-21 “Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep thought the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”
In a nutshell – He loves you, He will equip you for anything that He calls you to, don’t be afraid but walk trusting Him and knowing He is at work. I have stood on these verses often. Being in my 40s and walking with Him most of my life, well, of one thing I am sure – He IS faithful, over and over again, He is faithful!
